The MT system is being developed to study dierent mem- ory design and implementation choices for functional lan- guages. Previous studies in MT have empirically demon- strated that the FIFO page replacement algorithm is better than the LRU page replacement algorithm for heap pages while LRU is superior to FIFO for stack pages. The current goal of the MT initiative is to study how memory that stores program code is accessed. A compiler for a subset of Scheme has been designed and implemented. The MT-Scheme com- piler is a homomorphism between Scheme programs and se- quences of MT primitive instructions. We present the ar- chitecture and implementation of the MT-Scheme compiler along with a brief description of the MT system.
