This work consists of an exploratory study about the questions students ask after they read a science text. It aims at getting information about the mental representations build by students. In this research we identify the most important ideas in the text, we individualize the ideas about which the students ask questions and we categorize the questions according to selected taxonomies. From the data obtained and having into account the students' academic achievement in the Natural Sciences, we carry out a factor analysis. The results show that students are not active questioners and they do not generally ask deep questions, especially those whose academic achievement is lower.
