In order to solve the software crisis a mental change in actors (programmers, system analysts, project managers, etc.) involved in the development process is needed. A software must be viewed as a product that must be thought, designed, and developed by a multidisciplinary team whose purpose is to assure its final quality. This change may be achieved by educating the future generation of software development professionals in order to that both quality and development through team work became second nature to them. This article describes the definition of a Quality Assurance System needed in the final stages of the software engineering curriculum at the University of Bío-Bío. The system is based on the quality model Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and the development process Rational Unified Process (RUP).
