In this paper, we demonstrate the use of context- profiling for making access control decisions in mobile devices. In particular, we discuss the device locking use case, where the device locking timeout and unlocking method are dynamically decided based on the perceived safety of current context. I. INTRODUCTION Configuring security and privacy policies in mobile de- vices can pose major usability challenges. Often, the diffi- culty in understanding the configuration options and choos- ing the correct settings for access control mechanisms dis- courages users from using those mechanisms in the first place. For example, consider password-based device lock in mobile devices. Typically, a user can choose to either use the password-based device lock or not use a device lock at all. Suppose a user, Alice, who finds it very inconvenient to type a password every time she has to unlock the device prefers to disable the device lock, but continues to store sensitive data like emails and internet-banking passwords on the mobile device. In case of device theft, she risks losing this sensitive data because she does not want to suffer the inconvenience
