Dentinhypersensibilität (DHS) – eine Übersicht
Summary The present paper is the second part of an review focusing on dentin hypersensitivity. In the first part of this literature
overview the well known definition, the anatomical and morphological structures, the sensory innervation and the different
mechanisms of pain appearance were described. Epidemiology and aetiological factors were also presented. The present second
part will explain the possible conventional desensitising methods that may be used after diagnosis of dentin hypersensitivity.
Beside prophylactic aspects, reversible and non-reversible treatment options, including recent developments, will be introduced
and discussed. Regarding current literature the effectiveness of the different treatment options will be evaluated.
