We have studied the efficiency of the coagulation effects of titanyl sulfate and titanium chloride compared with aluminum sulfate on model water at pH 5.5–10 and alkalinity 0.5–5 mmol/dm3. It was found that titanium coagulants are expedient to be used for treating water with low alkalinity within the interval 9 < pH < 7, i.e., in conditions whereby aluminum sulfate does not work. At the same time in the pH region optimal for aluminum sulfate and average values of water alkalinity (turbidity, color, temperature 18–20°C) this reagent ensures the same degree of purification at consumptions on average by 20 and 30% lower compared with respectively titanyl sulfate and titanium chloride.
