This paper presents a general methodology for exergy balance in chemical and thermal processes in order to be integrated in a process simulator. In this work, as well as using the general expressions for heat and work streams, a new general expression for calculating exergy of material stream in process simulators has been developed. The applicability of the computer-aided exergy balance in a ProSimPlus® is shown through a simple scheme of
Natural Gas
Liquids (NGL) recovery process from raw natural gas.
