Asthma and obesity have considerably increased all over the world in the last 20years. A large number of data in the field of epidemiology, clinics, or physiopathology hypothesis, are in favor of a real link between these two diseases. Evaluation of BMI and therapeutic approaches of obese or overweight patients might, in the future, play an important role in the control of asthma particularly in difficult-to-treat asthma. In the field of primary prevention of asthma and atopy, several nutrients and foods are candidates. They have been identified by epidemiological studies. It is the case for vitamins A, D and E, zinc, regular consumption of fruits and vegetables and for Mediterranean diet. There is a need for well-designed randomized trials to precisely confirm their preventive role.
