There are correspondences between Zadeh's fuzzy theory and Peirce's logic of vagueness (1992). For example, Peirce discusses “determinate” and “indeterminate” symbols in terms of depth and breadth of such symbols. These can now be further explained in terms of fuzzy set and logic theories. For this purpose, we identify three basic classes of set and logic theories. Furthermore we indicate that classical laws and tautologies do not hold in the absolute sense as they do in the classical theory but they hold as a matter of degree in fuzzy theories
