This paper presents a
dynamic model
for HID lamps; the model is based on thermal and electric principles. The model considers that the conductivity of the plasma inside the lamp depends of the
heat flow
from the inside of the lamp to outside. The
heat flow
of the lamp has an analogy with electrical circuits with resistors and capacitors. This capacitors and resistors represent the thermal behavior of the lamp and can be used to predict the dynamic of the lamp and their stability. This model is used to stabilize the lamp when it is fed with square waveforms. Furthermore, this model can be implemented in software as "PSpice", "Simnon" or "MATLAB".

... high luminous efficacy, good color rendering, long life, and compact size in contrast to fluorescent lamps [1, 2]. Therefore, HID lamps are widely used to satisfy highquality lighting applications and commercial lighting systems, such as projectors and automotive headlights [3, 4]. Due to the negative incremental impedance characteristics of the gasdischarging lamps, the MH lamp requires an extra ballast circuit for stable operation [
